WELCOME TO OUR OUR 30TH SEASON of Shows Worth Seeing!

It’s only the 2nd week of September, but it already feels like our 30 season is well underway!

A huge congratulations to our CAT Award nominees and recipients!  Each year Calgary-ACTS presents the CAT Awards to celebrate the previous season of Community Theatre Productions and this year Morpheus was nominated 22 times in 12 categories.  Morpheus received awards in the following Categories:

  • Outstanding Performance by a Chorus/Ensemble in a Play – The Peacock Season
  • Outstanding Costume Design – Yvonne Ustick – The Peacock Season
  • Outstanding Direction of a Play – Nicola Payton – The Peacock Season
  • Outstanding Performance by a Leading role in a Play – Snizhana Gukasian-Korbeinikova as Sylvia – Sylvia (Co-Pro with Scorpio Theatre)
  • Outstanding Production of a Play – The Peacock Season
  • Volunteer Award – Grace Lu

Calgary-ACTS also recognized Sean Anderson as the recipient of the Community Builder Award for building capacity for the benefit of community theatre in supporting the growth of several new and established theatre companies, through partnerships and co-productions.

SEPT 15, 18, 19 – Auditions for Puss In Boots

SEPT 16, 7:00pm – Morpheus Theatre’s Annual General Meeting – Please join us and be a part of one of Calgary’s premier community theatre companies.  All are invited to join us for this meeting.  A voting membership is available for $1.00.

SEPT 21Workshop: Design & The Director with Vanessa Porteous – A one day, introductory exploration of theatrical design for the director. Learn how to collaborate with your creative team to create the physical world of the play! We’ll examine how each aspect of design can help to tell the story; how to read a script for design; prepping to meet the designer(s); and even get our hands dirty with a little prelim design project of our own!

OCT 4 – 12DRINKING HABITS

Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancés, are hot on their trail. Buy tickets HERE

Dec 8 – 16Puss in Boots Poor Tom! His father, the miller, has died. Tom, our hero, is bequeathed a cat in his father’s will. An unusual cat. A cat with the gift of the gab.
